(A) Mannerism art depicted paintings with more asymmetrical points of view, more exaggeration on lighting, and introduced slight signs of movement. (B) Baroque art took Mannerism’s introduction to movement and exaggerated it. Baroque emphasizes dramatic motion and depicts clear comprehensible detail.
(2) Describe Peter the Great’s program for Russia.
Peter the Great strived to modernize and install Western customs into Russian Society, and improve the army. This resulted in him ordering the citizens of Russia to do the complete opposite of what the preceding kings attempted to enforce.
(3) What did Frederick William accomplish?
Among other accomplishments, Frederick William’s government settled numerous peasant colonists and worked to stabilize the circumstances of peasant subjects on state domains and noble estates. His policies laid the foundation for the triumphant rise of Prussia under his son, Frederick II (“the Great”) (r. 1740-86).
