Ninth and Tenth Century INvasions

The ninth and tenth centuries; ignited and carried out by the Vikings and Magyars had an immense, and destructive impact on Europe with its widespread invasions creating havoc and destruction across the land. On the other hand, aside from physical destruction, how did these invasions impact the economic, agricultural, and political state of the conquered lands? Firstly, these raids effected and weakened the economic state of Europe because their constant attacks led to closed trade routes, and farmers leaving their coastal regions, leading to a deplete in agricultural development. Secondly, due to agricultural exchange between the invaders and the invaded, this concluded in social interaction and inter-marriages; a blending of vikings and and local cultures. Lastly, the political instability the invaders caused, political rulers began to lose authority in their position due to the incompetence of dealing with these invasions. In the end the ninth and tenth centuries invasions, had impacted and left an imprint on both faces of Europe, the physical, and systemic.
